Your upline are the people you are making money for. Your downline are the people making money for you (and your upline).

That is the bare basics of it.

Downline is all the people under you, you get a small percentage of their sales, your upline is all the people above you who get a small percentage of your sales. Explains it good here:

I like to put it in terms of a job, since most people are familiar with that terminology.

Your upline is(are) your boss(es). Your downline are your employees.

Naturally, your upline cannot fire you and you can’t really fire your downline, but that’s the concept. Your bosses make money off of you, while you make money off your employees.

By definition the meanings are as follows.

UPLINE: The single line of sponsors above a Distributor and between the Distributor and the Company.

DOWNLINE: All IMC’s emanating from and below any particular IMC.

IMC= Independent marketing consultant. Various companies use different names such as distributor, consultant, independent rep., and so forth.

Your upline is typically your immediate support. They should hold the same interests as you, and should be working as a team with you and your downline.

Some people struggle with their upline for various reasons. Usually reasons that are quite common in MLM.

Upline: people you work for. they get a commission out of your sales
Downline: People who work for you. You get a commission from their sales

If you are looking for setting up either, take a look at. This should solve your immediate concerns and hand hold you to success.

The answers above have it answered…

The big thing about an upline is that you have access to their experience and training…But just remember even though they make a lot of money and know how to build the business, their way is NOT the only way and you might want to add your own twist to their methods or operation even if they say not to…Their methods most certainly work, but there are lots of ways to grow a big downline for yourself.

My advice is to keep your options open and use your own intuition.

Upline: The people that suckered you in to joining.
